Zoe's Drinking Problem

Ok, I'll be honest, I feel a little guilty posting a video of my darling Zoe doing something that I've decided is (how should I put this) fairly odd.  It's not like any of us is perfect.  Let's just say that Zoe has a unique way of drinking from the water bowl.  I don't recall her doing this when we first brought her home, but it has developed into her normal manner of drinking.  Please have a look and judge for yourself.  If anyone else has a dog that drinks water with its nose propped on the rim of the bowl, I would be interested to know.  Maybe she's not as odd as I think.  Given that Xander is known for walking in circles, I shouldn't give Zoe such a hard time.  After all, her method does accomplish the intended goal.  :)

Happy Blog Hopping Saturday!!

  1. She's cute. I don't think she has a problem. My dogs don't drink this way but maybe she gets more that way.
Have a great Saturday. Still Fri here in the west!

  2. Perhaps she's trying to keep her nose out of the water!

  3. Obviously, she doesn't like getting water in her nose and has figured out how to keep that from happening. Zoe is cute no matter what she does!

  4. I can honestly say...she's my first! :)

  5. Can't say that I've seen that one before around our house, but I did use to have a dog that would pick up his food bowl when I fed him and move over about two feet before eating out of it.

Maybe she's just smarter than everyone else and knows something the others don't!!

  6. I tink she is actually quite smart about her waters con-sump-tion. Dis way, she never gets the waters up her nose!! It's really brilliant if you asks me. I wish I had a longer nose then I would do it too. My mom always laughs at me when I drinks waters because I get waters up my nose every single time and then walk around snorting. How humiliating!!

  9. That's definitely a very unique way of drinking water. Zoe is so cute no matter how she drinks the water! I am so interested in finding out how my Mika drinks his water now! Got to check him out!!!

  11. Hi

I think it's a clever way of drinking water and I might try it myself now I've seen Zoe's training video on how to do it....

Found you through the Saturday blog hop by the way.....Nice to meet you.

  13. Hi Kristin, That looks like a big bowl,,,maybe Zoe is afraid that she might fall in. Just like Zoe & Xander, I think most of us pups have little eccentricities somehwere in our lives, but they really just add to the allure we have for our human friends. Here's a smile alert,,,just ask Zoe why she does that, and I'd be willing to bet that when you see the look on her face after you ask her, it will put a smile on your face.

  17. Maybe she just didn't like getting her nose in the water.

  18. I think she's pretty smart, keeping water from getting in her nose while she's drinking!

Thanks for visiting my post about Sophie and for your kind comments. Thanks, too, for following. =)

  19. LOL. Maybe she just doesn't like getting her nose wet!

  20. I think I'll try that myself. OF course it could be that her water bowl is a little too low. She seems like a really tall dawgins. She has to drop her head a little too low into the bowl to get a good drink. Maybe she needs one of those stands. My Daddy -- who never blogs or reads blogs watched the video and threw in his two cents. LOL I think she's just fine.

  22. I think she is just smart. She is resting her neck muscles while drinking. That's why they sell all those elevated bowls for tall pets. To prevent muscle strain. IMHO

  25. We had a beagle who has since died of a snake bite. She always rested her nose on the rim of the bowl. I figured it was because she did not want to wet her ears. We are on the blog hop Emmy and the gang at dogs in Brazil. There is also another dog here who only drinks from taps

  26. So cute! It looks like she's just found a comfortable position. Dogs, like us, are all unique! Thanks for coming over and visiting us today. Nice to meet you!

  27. I love this! What a cutie! When Millie drinks from her bowl, she looks as if she's gone for a swim! I suppose they all have their fun little quirks that make them unique them! Also, I see you are from Roanoke. I am originally from Roanoke too! Hi neighbor! Enjoyed stopping in. We look forward to reading more!

  28. Mebbee if you took that 30 pounds of bling offa her neck, her nose wouldn't sink like an anchor. Then she wouldn't be afraid of it goin' under and never comin' back up.

That's my story and I'm stickin' to it.

    Woofs and anchored slobbers,
    Chester ;0=)

  29. My Doberman drinks the same way. He has done this since he was a puppy. I have to fill the bowl to the top since his tongue can only go down so far. People poke fun at him if they see him drink.

  30. She's a lady and therefore, she drinks like one! You should our Harley - she can hold her breath under water in the pool for a long time...but drink water from dish? She coughs and chokes and sputters...I think maybe Zoe has something here. I'll have to show Harley the video!

  31. Is this kind of like a human eating with elbows on the table? Strange. But cute.

  32. I don't think there is anything wrong with her. My dogs do not do it, but all dogs are different! I guess it does not matter how she gets the water, only that she does!

  33. Very delicate and lady like of Zoe to drink this way.
